There are women in our lives who seem to think through, plan, organize and execute. They tick all the boxes, all the time: closing all the rings on their Apple Watch, never getting stuck or late because of the school run, and always hitting their yoga mat - always. We're sure you also have that person in your life (we know we do!) who makes everything look so easy. In a fast-paced world, we look for inspiration from thought leaders and women from all walks of life to remind us that performance can be fun, but there is always room for...

Meet the founder: Sadie Frost of FrostBody

There are women in our lives who seem to think through, plan, organize and execute. They tick all the boxes, all the time: closing all the rings on their Apple Watch, never getting stuck or late because of the school run, and always hitting their yoga mat - always. We're sure you also have that person in your life (we know we do!) who makes everything look so easy. In a fast-paced world, we look to thought leaders and women from all walks of life to remind us that performance can be fun, but always leaves room for rest, relaxation and mindfulness. We chat with well-known celebrity, mother and entrepreneur Sadie Frost about her techniques for staying grounded in the midst of life and why yoga and meditation are the way to go for everyone.

What does creativity mean to you? How do you define it? What inspires you to be creative?

"The interesting thing about being creative is usually a very primal drive. It's something that's just bubbling away, that wants to come out. For me, whether I'm designing something for Frost Body, directing it, producing it or writing a play. It's about telling stories and it's so fulfilling when it all comes together."

Where do you live at the moment? How has this changed over the pandemic, if at all? What does your city offer you as a doer? What other places inspire you?

"I've moved back to my birthplace in London, I've come full circle and feel very at home and at peace. I've been wanting to move for a while but then the pandemic hit and my plans were delayed. I'm so happy I'm finally in the place I want to be. It's wonderful to have everything so close to the street where I live, I have my office, my ballet classes, my trapeze classes and my Pilates class and if I manage to make use of all that, I'm lucky enough to have a pub where I can sit with friends and throw out ideas. I love being in towns or villages in the mountains from Deia to Marrakech to the Himalayas. The beauty and silence of the mountains, large or small, give a wondrous energy that can inspire.

How did you get into this industry? What was your first job?

"I've been involved in many different careers, but I've been designing with different brands for about 25 years. I've always had more than one job at a time, but that came about when I originally wanted to design with like-minded people. I founded FrostFrench in 1999 with Jemima French."

Why is it important for consumers to continue to seek out mindful and inclusive brands? What can you do to further support them?

"It's so important to support independent and smaller brands, otherwise everything will become the same and only the big companies will thrive. It's important to support young designers and DIY enthusiasts, it should be a place for everyone. Bigger brands often have the worst track record when it comes to social responsibility."

Why is mindful and sustainable production important?

“In a world of mass consumption, we wanted to offer a collection that is well sourced (recycled fibers), well made, has as little impact on the environment as possible and can be worn for seasons to come, not just a throwaway item.”

Finish these sentences: “Always…” and “Never…”

“Always be positive, never negative.”

What does yoga mean to you? What is your favorite pose? What are your other favorite ways to exercise or exercise alone or with family/friends?

"Yoga is everything to me, it's what makes me feel whole and healthy in this crazy world. I practice yoga in the morning because otherwise I couldn't achieve the contentment I often feel. I wake up before 6 a.m. and do a few different meditations in bed, where I feel warm and safe. After practicing Vipassanā, I'll do some Sufi rolls and spinal twists to focus, my Getting my metabolism going and practicing my breathing. Once I have done this, which takes about 20-30 minutes, I am then ready to practice on my mat. There are so many poses that I like, but you can’t go wrong with a simple downward dog.”

Favorite Yogamatters product(s)? Why?

“I love the Yogamatters travel yoga mat because I'm always traveling and it's perfect to take with you.

What is your work uniform? What do you wear when you're not at work?

"I like to wear clothes to work that I can practice yoga or work out in because I'm trying to make the most of the time. Our FrostBody collection is great for layering; the leggings, for example, can be worn under a pencil skirt."

What gives you energy and keeps you recharged?

"Apple cider vinegar in the morning is great for metabolism. A nice brisk walk with my sausage dog through Hampstead Heath and healthy vegan food."

Favorite movie, book, app, podcast, game at the moment? You can list one or more!

"My favorite show at the moment is 'Succession!'"
