Miracle of Triphala
Ayurveda is a miracle and the miracle of Ayurveda is Triphala. A unique combination of three fruits in dried form, obtained from three herbs that can be effective for all diseases in general. As mentioned in Charak Samhita, Triphala is a Rasayan i.e. a remedy that prevents aging and promotes longevity. It has been used by people in India for centuries and has achieved a lifespan of more than 100 years. Triphala has been used in many medicines which help in the promotion and effectiveness of this medicine.
Triphala consists of three herbs. There are
1. Haritaki (Terminalia chebula)
2. Baheda (Terminalia bellerica)
3. Amla (Emblica officinalis)
Of the three herbs, two i.e. Amla and Haritaki are considered Rasayan in Ayurveda, which helps in preventing aging and maintaining good health with long life span. Since Triphala is considered as Tridosha Shamak, i.e. bringing harmony in difficult dosha (because Haritki is considered as herb which reduces Vata, Baheda reduces Kapha and Amla Pitta, although all three are also Tridosha Shamak when taken individually), therefore it finds application in numerous diseases. It has found its use in constipation as it acts as a mild laxative. It is Kashaya Rasa dominant and its Vipaka is Madhur (sweet).
Morphemes Triphala
This is the miracle of Ayurveda specially created for humanity to lead a good and healthy lifestyle. It contains three herbs commonly known as Amla, Haritaki and Baheda
Amla is an herb that finds a very special place because of its properties. Charak has mentioned it in his book Charak Samhita. It contains a leaf (cold) Virya (potency) which makes it a very important herb in treating all diseases caused by Pitta Dosha. It contains five out of six Rasa mentioned. Only Lavan Rasa is not present in it.
Amla has a small tree that reaches a height of around 20-25 feet. It bears fruit in October. It contains a large amount of vitamin C, which makes it even more useful. The plant part used is dried fruit without seeds. Amla is generally a tridosha suppressant but plays a big role in suppressing Pitta dosha as it is Sheet Virya. It acts as an appetizer, helps in proper digestion, activates the liver, helps in the treatment of skin diseases and is also very effective in the treatment of pyrexia. Regular use leads to a long and healthy life. Its good results have been observed in hair loss and it promotes hair growth. It also acts as a brain tonic and helps combat general body weakness.
Another content of Morphemes triphala is Haritki. Haritki, commonly known as Harad, finds it mentioned in Charak Samhita which acts as Rasayan i.e. it offers good and long life. It is a miracle herb that has Ushan (hot) Virya property and is therefore helpful in counteracting Vata dosha. Like Amla, it also contains five out of six Rasa, except Lavan Rasa. These properties of Haritki ensure that all three doshas remain in harmony. It plays a major role in indigestion, constipation, maturation, pain relief due to its vata-suppressing properties and most importantly helps in attaining a long age without disease. The third and most important content of morpheme triphala is Bibhitak, commonly known as Baheda. It has a tall tree with a height of 50 – 70 feet. It blooms in January and February. It is ushan (hot) virya in its property, so acts on Kapha dosha, although due to its properties it acts as a tridosha suppressor. The plant part used is dried fruit without seeds. It is used in skin diseases, painkillers, insomnia, indigestion, cough and cold, also increases sexual powers, helps in treating eye diseases and is especially helpful in controlling bleeding.
