Why is my aura dirty?

The question that came to my mind when explaining to a client that her aura was also being cleansed was, "Why, is it dirty?"

I am a Usui Reiki Ryoho Shihan (master instructor) and practitioner; some many to stand a few inches away from the person or animal's body before and after a Reiki healing session.

Wiping away any inharmonious vibrations that may have attached themselves to the energy field surrounding the life form receiving the session is called cleansing the aura. Usui Reiki flows into the core of all needy atoms in the mind, body, soul and aura (energy field) to create balance and harmony. As Usui Reiki radiates outwards, it also cleanses and balances everything within the aura.

The question above made me aware that the first thoughts that usually come with the words cleansing are of soap and water or in some cases a white sage smudge stick. Think for a moment about your physical body and how every day twenty percent of most people's blood is cleansed through their kidneys without soap or sage. Cleansing your blood through your kidneys is a natural function, and Usui Reiki also cleanses your aura when needed. Each removes different pollutants, and both help you be healthier and happier.

You may have read or experienced how tired and sick a person can feel when their kidneys are unable to do the cleansing they need. Any negative vibes you may have picked up can also drag your whole self down. The balance and harmony that comes with Usui Reiki easily removes the negative without soap, water or strange rituals.

Each life form has its own life energy, Ki/Chi, and an energy field around it that is part of the entire life form. I say life form because humans do not have sole rights to life energy or energy fields, commonly referred to as auras. The energy fields can absorb various types of energy, some of which are best thought of as airborne pollutants.

Different practices have different procedures for removing such pollutants or getting rid of the negative energy that has simply attached itself to a life form but has not yet taken hold. Each energy practice has different procedures. After studying various energy practices and both the Japanese and Western styles of Usui Reiki Ryoho, I have found that the easiest and most effective way to cleanse is the simple brushing techniques I learned through the Japanese styles of Gendai Reiki-ho and Komyo Reiki Kai.

For those of you who think scientifically, in the early 1990s, while speaking to a Yale University graduate, I became aware that the scientific world recognizes the energy fields that surround each of us. I, like many people, have seen auras my entire life, so I understand how natural they are. At the same time, different people have greater awareness in different senses. You could be a person who knows auras in ways other than visual. I have met people who have no eyesight but are very aware of their auras. Any time you feel something negative about another person, it could simply be a signal that Usui Reiki's balance and harmony cleansing would be good for him or her.

Just as those closets in your home need to be cleaned out from time to time, it is important to sweep out the trash and dust bunnies from your entire self, including the energy field that surrounds you. The difference is that while the closet can be a big task, cleaning your aura can be done gently and easily. Cleansing auras, which include chakras and light body centers, is taught in the first style level, which honors the Usui Reiki Ryoho tradition, and melting away negative karma is usually taught in the third.

Cleansing auras is just one of the things included in the lessons and practice sessions after your path to Usui Reiki (attunement) has been opened. In our busy world we often don't have time for all the learning we'd like to do, so it's easier to get a Reiki healing session where clearing your aura is just something that happens.

Since negative vibrations are not bacterial, a person might think that they cannot cause any harm. When negative vibrations find a niche in an energy field, they can grow, form a block and attract other negative energy. A person carrying a negative with him 24/7 is not a good thing. An Usui Reiki Ryoho practitioner or teacher gently flows Usui Reiki to the recipient's mind, body, soul and aura, melting negative vibrations and replacing them with the positive universal energy flowing through him or her.

You don't have to worry that a "dirty" aura makes you a bad person, it's just that your space is always with you and being negative in it is something you don't need.

Chakras are also cleansed without worrying about how much they are opened or closed. One of the best things about a Reiki healing session is that you don't have to know the medical language or the language of New Age or complementary medicine. Usui Reiki Ryoho, in whatever form it is practiced, is a complementary healing spiritual practice as it has no negative side effects and positively reinforces all other healing methods.

Cleansing auras is not typically performed in conventional medical practice; Hippocrates said, “The physician treats, but nature heals.” Usui Reiki is a piece of universal energy; universal energy is natural, or it is nature.

There are many Usui Reiki Ryoho Shihans, such as myself, who provide guidelines for seeing or sensing auras. If you want to learn the technique, I suggest that you first allow yourself to go into a relaxed state and look over another person's head. You may be surprised at the haze you see.

Next time you're at the checkout, instead of stressing about the wait, look over the heads of the various people in front of you, including the cashier. Don't force your eyes to stare, just relax and let your eyes see what's there. Different people release different amounts of energy at different times of the day or at different stages of their lives, so don't expect anything or anything. Sometimes a person is so energetic in an area that the colors are so strong that you might think what you are seeing is something else. I usually see auras as blurry, but each person sees in his or her own reality. Seeing auras is the same as practicing Usui Reiki Ryoho as there are no black and white correct ways to receive or experience energy for each person. If you see or feel differently than person X, no higher being will be angry with you. However, if you say that you are seeing or experiencing something that you cannot see or perceive, a person might shake their head.

If you don't feel like seeing or feeling auras, that's okay because I can't think of any university or job that would require this of you. If you are wondering why you want to cleanse your aura, remember that your energy field around you is your space and a part of you. George Bernard Shaw said, "You better keep yourself clean and bright; you are the window through which you must see the world."
