It's not really known how long tattoos have been around, but it's probably been 12,000 years and we know that the ancient Egyptians practiced the art of tattooing.

One might think that the art of tattooing has its history primarily among men. Not like that. Women from different cultures tattooed their bodies for different reasons. Take the women of Borneo. They would mark themselves to show what they could do, such as weaving or a collector of medicinal herbs. This communicated her status as marriage material. In West Asia, girls were marked to show their place in society.

Tattooing has had its ups and downs over the centuries and has even been banned many times in different cultures for certain periods of time. It seems that tattooing will never really go away. During a ban it appears to go underground until it is free to resurface.

When it comes to tattooing (a Tahitian word meaning “to be marked”), in some cultures only women are allowed to do the marking.

Today's women can make their own decisions when it comes to tattooing. It is becoming increasingly popular to place artistic designs almost anywhere on the body. You often see tattoos adorning an ankle or names of husbands or boyfriends on a forearm. Some women want to have a private tattoo just for their spouse.

Even celebrities like Pamela Anderson and Christina Applegate get them.

Even twenty years ago, you didn't see tattoos on women very often. Now you can go to any beach and see a design on the lower backs of young girls tanning in the sun.

There are many types of tattoos to choose from such as: B. Gothic or Celtic design, Polynesian or Tahitian. Our artists today are becoming more creative in their individual patterns. You can choose between old and new designs
