Oat tea for osteoporosis
Oat herb (Avena sativa) is the stem and milky grain of the oat plant (the same one from which you get oatmeal). It is packed with calcium, potassium and vitamins A and C. In fact, your body can absorb the calcium more easily from herbs than from many calcium pills on the market. If you want a calcium supplement, simply drink one cup of tea per day. Oat herb can be taken at any time in your life. It is a gentle herb and can be mixed with other herbal teas.
This herb is preferred by herbalists to build and maintain strong healthy bones. It repairs the bones and makes them more supple. Drink a liter of oatmeal infusion daily and take an oat herb bath a few times a week to heal your bones from fractures, cancer, osteoporosis and rickets. It improves bone density while nourishing your nervous system.
You can make a tea or infusion from oatmeal. A tea is poured with boiling water over the herb and steeped for about 5-10 minutes. Infusions are made like tea, but they last longer to extract more vitamins and minerals from the herb for healing.
Here's how I make an oatstraw infusion:
1 ounce oat herb
1 liter preserving jar
Place 1 ounce of oats in a mason jar. Pour boiling water to fill the jar. Put the lid on and leave it overnight or about 8-10 hours.
Strain the herb and you can drink immediately or drink it iced or mixed with other teas such as raspberry. To make a bath, simply pour a liter of infusion into your bath water and soak 1-2 times a week.
