Yoga, nutrition, organic food, health and well-being have become very stylish in recent years
as GSY life gave me the topic for this month; I sit in Planet Organic on the Tottenham Court Road, in the middle of a flood of people who rush to sack their nutritional supplements, gluten-free chips and organic vegetables. It is rammed from wall to wall with funky yoga mats or plump-filled sports bags over your shoulders. The queues are busy and the coffers are plump and there is a real sum in the air. People not only accept the new trend of well -being, they also seem to be really excited to take care of themselves.
And yes, I feel stylish if I'm only here! I have the 'equipment' on and just ordered my healthy and nutritious salad while I took a lunch break from training in a well -known London yoga studio, and yes, it feels good to sit back and watch it all relax in front of me. I spent a large part of my yoga career in and outside of different global studios in all parts of the world, and ironically recently a leading yoga teacher, based in LA, told me how much she loved that London "finally arrives"!
We slowly but surely turn away from the consumption of large quantities of faster and processed food, which are packed with refined sugar and salt to the edge, and honestly let us be a lot more synthetic.
I mean, we were all there - constantly checked our telephones, ignored the pain of our body and cried after calm, we got this quick snack or the processed meal, because frankly we simply don't have the time to stop and prepare something healthy!
We have become a population in which the phone beeps or we hear a new noise every time the phone is beeping, the hormone level of the cortisol level is increasing, but the thing is that our cortisol level was originally created for the fact that we are in a flight or fighting mode when we are in hunting a rather scary encounter with a bear in the forest, not in every aspect of our modern technology react.
Our sleep quality has deteriorated drastically, our mirror or our medication to combat stress and fear have become tenfold, and we simply lose contact with ourselves more and more than people.
Now I am not the person who thinks about how we should be, in fact I personally bothered myself in all of this - and in shock horror, sometimes even with a degree of consciousness. I know first-hand how to call up our emails first in the morning, shortly after we opened our eyes, became a norm. I worked in finance for 14 years and ignored my pain in the lower back area, my stress level overwhelmed me constantly and at some point when I was delegated in Asia. After a long day on which I observed our three flashing screens and watched market fluctuations in a series of red and green tones, it was very easy to go to the local wine bar and stay there until we blocked all the signals to slow down the mind or body.
SoMy point is that yoga, health and well -being are certainly stylish, but I hope that we practice fully aware and continue to take responsibility for our own health instead of becoming the next fashion in the circulation of coolness or the latest things and well -being.
when current trends are fashionable; We tend to change everything at once and curse ourselves when we "slip". However, if it would not be wonderful if we only allow these positive changes, in whatever form you simply manifest, we take care of ourselves a little better, undertake to recognize when we have to slow down and when we feel overwhelmed or just feel exhausted, and actually take the time to stop, if only for a moment, if only a healthy meal, as it is for a click in the form of Social media.
Personally, learning how I can gradually and easily be careful to myself, to think and become much more mindful and to be a bit friendlier with myself, which sometimes also means to enjoy cocktails with the girl and not feel guilty and certainly eat the last piece of cake!
In yoga, we say that our practice is lifelong, we practice to improve our quality of life, but not to be perfect. We practice for our body and our minds, not for our ego.
And I really hope that people will continue to inform themselves about the extensive knowledge of nutrition and well -being that can currently be found everywhere.
We are also blessed, on an island full of thoughtful, friendly, educated and expert teachers who accompany us on our way that we may have to open our eyes a little more to the current style trend in order to be sustainable. Positive and balanced changes after which you can live.
And as a wise teacher once taught me, luck means being free and freedom means making decisions.
