Book discussion: The healthy food in a hurry cookbook by Jim Romanoff
When I received this book for the first time, I was thrilled. I thought this could only be a cookbook that I would actually use and not just read and put aside! Six weeks passed and exceptionally my prediction proved to be correct.
Since the day on which "healthy in a hurry" has arrived by post, the weekly menu contains at least two recipes from this book. The concept "healthy in a hurry" is ideal for modern mothers who have difficulty preparing healthy meals without having time between the end of the working day and football training (or whatever) at 6:30 p.m. As the subtitle of the book states, the recipes are suitable for quick and easy dinner in everyday life. There is not much here that you want to serve for special occasions, but the book offers an almost endless selection of delicious meals on weekdays that can be prepared in a few minutes.
The author Jim Romanoff-editor of the Eatingwell magazine-is inspired by a variety of culinary traditions. The meals are inspired by the southwestern, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Middle Eastern, Italian, Indian, Greek and North African cuisine. About two thirds of the 150 recipes are accompanied by beautiful color photos. Each recipe contains information on preparation and cooking time and nutrition as well as information on whether the recipe is rich in fiber, little carbohydrates or a lifestyle with "healthy weight". “Nutrition bonuses” are provided for recipes that contain 15% or more of the daily value of certain nutrients such as vitamin A, folic acid or iron.
"Healthy in a hurry" offers more than just recipes. The book is divided into helpful sections that can be helpful in planning meals, e.g. B. the storage of your pantry, seasonal menu suggestions and vegetarian meals. Three sections contain ideas, not exclusively recipes, for sauces, side dishes and desserts "in a hurry". Special indices help you choose recipes for child -friendly, healthy weight and meals with a period of 30 minutes or less.
Some of the recipes we enjoyed are: adobo pork and potato packages, beef and pasta soup in the Vietnamese way, grilled aubergine panini, turkey with blueberry pancoise, chipotle flank steak-tacos with pineapple and mandarin veal medallions.
Only some of the delicious recipes that I have not yet tried are: steak and lettuce wraps in the Korean species, seasoned pork chops and peaches, grilled fillet mignon with vegetable kabobs, shrimp enchiladas Verde, quesadillas with turkey and balsamic liners as well as express shrines and sausage Jambalaya.
In my extensive selection of cookbooks you will find some books that I return to repeatedly to get good recipes for Sunday dinner or special occasions. I just like to read others and dream of the time -consuming recipes with expensive or exotic ingredients that I would like to try ... one day. However, there are very few that I use regularly for my dinner on weekdays. "Healthy in a hurry" has proven to be one of them, and as such I recommend it as a valuable addition to everyone's collection.
