How to get rid of the headache
Headaches are one of the most common causes of pain we deal with. The causes of headaches are varied but can include triggers such as caffeine, food additives, light exposure, schedule changes and even hormones.
The good news is that if you know what triggers your headaches, you can get relief from your headaches. Below are some lifestyle changes that can help you avoid headaches, as well as natural remedies that can provide relief.
Control headache triggers through lifestyle changes
Ensure enough sleep
Make sure you get 7 to 9 hours of sleep every night.
Avoid food as a trigger
Certain foods can trigger headaches, e.g. B. red wine, dark beer, aspartam, msg, caffeine, some nuts and onions.
Move moderately
30 minutes of sport three days a week can help with headaches - keep the training easy! A brisk walk can also reduce stress.
Copy stress
Worry, emotional changes and anger can lead to tension and trigger headaches. Take some time each day to breathe deeply and become mentally clear.
Natural help for headaches
Here are some suggestions for natural remedies that I recommend to my patients. As always, you should speak to your doctor before starting any new therapy.
Fish oil
Fish oil is a must for a healthy diet and has an anti-inflammatory effect. Fish oil provides the omega-3 fatty acids we need in our diet.
Ginger
250 mg at the first sign of a migraine can sometimes prevent the migraine from progressing.
magnesium
300-400 mg with the evening meal can promote sleep and reduce the occurrence of headaches.
tea
A calming cup of lemon balm, peppermint or chamomile tea can relieve headaches.
Essential oils
Put 1-2 drops of peppermint or lavender oil on a tissue and inhale.
Some headaches must be treated by a doctor. It is therefore important that you consult your family doctor to find out what kind of headache it is.
