Migraine. The cause and the cure
The most common types of headaches are migraines, tension headaches and cluster headaches. The theory of migraine is usually only 1 active ingredient, ergotamine, the alkaloid of the grain and its chemical derivatives. Over the years, the pain due to ergotamine can increase.
Three phases of migraine:
1. Preliminary phase. Sensitivity to light, vision, crawling sensations, dizziness or general malaise. The arteries of the brain narrow during this phase
2. Pain phase. Throbbing, one-sided headache with nausea and vomiting. The cerebral arteries relax and expand during this phase
3. Edema phase. There is a persistent, dull pain. The cranial arteries and surrounding tissues become anatomically pathological by becoming edematous and swollen
Vasoconstriction and vasodilation as causes of migraines:
Both constriction and dilation can trigger headaches, and because both situations cause excess blood fluids to enter the brain tissue.
In both cases, the result is local edema, which then has a mechanical effect on the surrounding nerves. The affected edematous tissue swells and stretches. The head is a “pressure chamber” and the amount of interstitial fluid and blood is disrupted. Pain is the result. In addition, the oxygen supply to the brain is hindered by the narrowing of the capillaries and the low speed of blood flow that accompanies the dilation. The hard layer of the meninges (dura mata), the cavernous sinus and the basilar artery are particularly sensitive to pain.
• Vasoconstriction, congestion of blood occurs as the internal pressure of the blood vessels increases so that they become more permeable.
This is a response of the sympathetic nervous system
• Vasodilation, the blood vessels release excess fluid to the surrounding tissue due to the slow speed of blood flow. This is a parasympathetic response.
Vasodialation is a response of the parasympathetic nervous system
Weekend Migraine During the usually more restful weekend, the reduction in high sympathetic tone due to work stress leads to excessive dominance of the parasympathetic regenerative systems. The result is a pronounced expansion of the cerebral vessels, which can then trigger a migraine attack. Sedatives or meditation or similar training would obviously be contraindicated in such migraine situations as such practices would further increase parasympathetic tone. Strong coffee could be the treatment of choice here, as coffee stimulates the adrenal glands and provokes an adrenaline rush - the blood vessels tend to constrict.
Chronic headaches accompanied by shortness of breath = a sign that environmental toxins are present. If the headache has been present since radiation therapy, this is an indication of anemia due to destruction of the bone marrow with a resulting lack of cerebral oxygenation.
Harmful effects from the internal environment of the 'modern' office building = harmful air quality and persistent electrosmog. This is accompanied by depression and tiredness, poor concentration and frequent sleep disorders. Eye irritations are noticeable and bronchial problems
Cluster headaches are characterized by excruciating, boring pain that travels upward and to the side, usually to one eye. Attacks last up to 2 hours and occur up to six times a day for up to 6 weeks. Men are the main sufferers and stress is a part of their life that they cannot say “no” to. In cluster headaches, an affected eye becomes red and watery, while the nose runs constantly. It is believed that the cause is overuse of the 7th and 10th cranial nerves
Tension headache is the most common headache. Dull, oppressive, heavy and not localized to any particular region of the head. It usually first appears upon waking and can last for several weeks. In addition, there are also physical complaints, chronic sinus infections and osteoarthritis of the cervical spine as well as disorders of the jaw joints
Stress headaches can also be considered tension headaches and can be caused by stress at work and at play. Stress constantly releases adrenaline in the adrenal glands, causing the blood vessels to constantly constrict - especially the brain region. Increased adrenaline production leads to increased glucose ration - adrenaline is an antagonist of insulin. The result is ischemia with insufficient oxygen supply and then the headache. This pain is extremely oppressive, as if your head would explode and your blood pressure rises
Weather-sensitive headaches are usually due to an autonomic nervous system and therefore to a weakness of the blood vessels. In the event of fluctuations in air pressure and abrupt changes in air pressure, the sensory threshold of the autonomic nervous system is lowered. The concentration of the parasympathetic neurotransmitter serotonin in the blood increases with the advent of certain warm weather conditions. This chemical has the potential to cause capillaries to dilate excessively, thereby causing headaches. In these cases, calcium antagonists work well as a temporary measure. Certain susceptible people also react sensitively to electrical discharges from air masses and electrosmog. Exercise can help, as can alternating hot and cold showers. Foods containing histamine, tyramine (cheese, red wine, citrus fruits) and phenylethyldiamine (chocolate) should be avoided. Plastic sports clothing such as “tracksuits” or ski suits should also be avoided, as they can become extremely charged due to static electricity.
Leaky gut
May occur as a result of insufficient intestinal flora. It can also happen when rhizoids (finger-like projections) grow that burrow into the intestinal walls.
The cells in most areas of the body are very close to each other. The cells in the intestinal tract are further apart, leaving more room for candida, parasites, heavy metal deposits or other harmful bacteria. Once these conditions perforate the intestinal wall; Rotting food, feces and bacteria infect the bloodstream. Toxicity and malabsorption can then become a problem. As a result, you may experience brain fog, skin rashes, fatigue and/or headaches, chemical sensitivities, and possibly food allergies.
Food allergy
1 Headache from food
2 Headaches in which food seems to play a minor role
3 Those who caused food under certain conditions, including stress or exhaustion
Chemical agents:
Alcohol monosodium glutamate nitrates/nitrites
Theobromine Caffeine Benzoic Acid
Phenylethylamine food coloring tyramine
Salicylates
Hypothyroidism
Check symptoms with your doctor
Adrenal insufficiency
Cortisol hormones have a wide range of functions and exert significant control over digestive, immune and nervous system function:
Maintaining normal blood sugar levels
Increased metabolism or protein breakdown
Increased distribution of fates
Suppressed synthesis of white blood cells
Suppressed immunoallergic reactions
Irritability of the nervous system
Increased production of stomach acid
Increased bladder pressure and urination
Increased loss of sodium, potassium and water through urine

Dietary supplements for migraines
Amino acids Where are they found? Foods of animal origin such as meat and poultry, fish, eggs and dairy products are the richest dietary sources of essential amino acids
5-Hydroxytryptopha Also indexed as: 5-HTP Supplemental 5-HTP is naturally derived from the seeds of Griffonia simplicifolia, a West African medicinal plant.
Vitamin B2 Also indicated as: Riboflavin Where is it found? Dairy products, eggs and meat contain significant amounts of vitamin B2. Green leafy vegetables and whole and so-called fortified grains contain some vitamin B2.
Vitamin D Where is it found? Cod liver oil is an excellent dietary source of vitamin D, as are foods fortified with vitamin D. Traces of vitamin D can be found in egg yolks and butter. However, the majority of vitamin D in the body is formed during a chemical reaction that begins when the skin is exposed to sunlight. Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) is the animal form of this vitamin
Magnesium Where is it found? Nuts and grains are good sources of magnesium. Beans, dark green vegetables, fish and meat also contain significant amounts.
SAMe has anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving and tissue-healing properties that can help protect joints. Several double-blind studies have shown that SAMe is useful for people with osteoarthritis, increasing the formation of healthy tissue14 and reducing pain, stiffness and swelling better than placebo and comparable to medications such as ibuprofen and naproxen.
Vitamin C (ascorbate, ascorbic acid) What does it do? Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that acts as a powerful antioxidant. As an antioxidant, one of the important functions of vitamin C is to protect LDL cholesterol from oxidative damage. Works as a detox for chemical allergies and supports the adrenal glandsWhere is it found? Broccoli, red peppers, currants, Brussels sprouts, parsley, rose hips, acerola berries, citrus fruits and strawberries are good sources of vitamin C.
