The body is a complete organism and wages an all-out war against any would-be perpetrator or perpetrator. In addition to taking things to increase our health and platelets, we also need to remove the things from our lives that can cause us harm and then give the body a chance to heal itself. We are a pretty amazing self-healing organism given half the chance.
Here is a simple list of 15 steps you can take to heal your ITP
Get rid of as many chemical toxins as possible from my personal care products and home. The toxic burden that humanity carries is epic in proportions and we were not designed to tolerate all of these chemicals.
Increase your intake of quality supplements, especially Coenzyme Q10, Selenium, Zinc, Melatonin, Vitamins A, D and E. Take a separate Vitamin B3 (niacinimide) supplement. B3 has anticancer/anti-inflammatory properties.
I would take a mega daily dose of ascorbic acid - 12 grams if you can tolerate it. Ascorbic acid protects plasma lipids from oxidative damage and destroys free radicals. Ascorbic acid also reduces the toxicity of drugs used in chemotherapy and reduces the effects of radiation.
Eliminate all dairy products from your diet
Eat at least three RAW garlic cloves per day. (chop it up and put it all on)
Avoid sugar like the plague. This also means anything that contains high fructose corn syrup. It is actually poison for your system. Use honey sparingly or stevia.
Eliminate all refined grains from your diet. Eg: processed bread, grains, white rice, etc. Completely eliminate all refined or unrefined wheat products.
Avoid all food additives
Take a good probiotic supplement
Eat at least 60% of your diet in raw foods. Preferably organic. (In other words, eat as close to nature as possible. If it is processed, direct it clearly! Eat simple food combinations. E.g.: a green salad with a piece of grilled chicken or lean meat with some brown rice or steamed vegetables it is simple and easy for your digestion.
Drink a fresh juicy green drink made from organic carrots, wheatgrass and other green vegetables daily. Celery is good, but make sure one is definitely organic as it retains all the pesticides in the membranes (in other words, the pesticides cannot be washed off). Add some raw cacao to your drink. (It contains 30 times as many antioxidants as green tea.)
Drink half your body weight in ounces of pure water that does not contain fluoride or chlorine. A squeeze of fresh lemon juice in the water will help flush out the toxins and alkalize your system.
Take a very good quality cod liver oil or flaxseed supplement in liquid form, not capsules (although there are some brands of fish oil capsules that are good - just make sure you do your research.)
Take a mushroom capsule supplement. No mushrooms. Look for a supplement that contains:
Reishu
Maitake
Shiatake
Cloud (Coriolus)
Agaricus
4 to 8 capsules daily with water. These mushrooms are extremely rich in glyconutrients and are real superfoods. These help balance the immune system and have even been known to help cure cancer and other autoimmune diseases.
As a side note...the biggest problem with any of these autoimmune diseases, including ITP and cancer, is that you can never truly heal unless you really figure out what the root cause is. All your good intentions may not be enough if you don't know what is causing your system to fail. It's even possible that your body is just intolerant of something that is perceived as good for you. Nothing is better than knowing. That's why I was so grateful to find my naturopath who uses DNA testing and heavy metal testing to get to the bottom of Viv's ITP.
