Our yoga teachers and studios have been adaptable and ingenious, finding new ways to connect and continue to teach and support their students. Through lockdowns, technical issues and learning to make adjustments virtually over Zoom. This month we're shining a light on them! In January, we'll be offering studios and chatting with teachers here on the blog to celebrate those who have kept us grounded over the past year. Find out more about Epanoui Wellness yoga studio below.
Tell us a little about why you set up your studio?
We set up a studio because it was a dream to offer a place where everyone is welcome. Regardless of age, financial situation or disability. Many of the studios we visited were more about money than yoga. We wanted a company that was more into the actual practice of yoga and kept the pricing ethical
What was your vision and did it come to light?
A safe haven for yoga students and people of all ages to come together and learn and grow on and off the mat
What are the lessons like in the studio?
We focus entirely on the energy of the room and adapt to the needs of the students. One day fast vinyasa isn't right for them, so we notice and allow a yin and slower flowing exercise to join in with the yang of vinyasa. No class is ever the same and we pride ourselves on being the best we can and providing beautiful classes for every student.
How has the studio helped your community?
We offer charity courses and free tickets for those unemployed due to pandemic or life. We also host holistic events whenever we can. This is how the vegan yoga brunch club began. Many people have connected and become friends at our events.
How was 2020 different for you as a yoga studio and what challenges did you have to overcome?
2020 has definitely been a more challenging year, but we are teaching online and building our community without having to travel to and from the studio. We are grateful and it was an experience that we will definitely offer on an ongoing basis.
What is your personal yoga journey and practice and how has it evolved over the years?
I have developed so much personally in the last year. Learning from the art of slowing down and appreciating the simplicity of life. Yoga absolutely completes me and I have a thirst for knowledge to develop as a practitioner.
What is a vision for the future even though things are still up in the air?
We hope that the holistic events and retreats will take place again next year. However, we appreciate that it will happen when it is intended and are happy to continue with additional yoga training and online events for now.
