Get to know the founder: Ashley Wray from the Mala Collective
When it comes to careful jewelry that not only sets a statement, but also helps them combine and honor their yoga and meditation practice, Mala pearl bracelets are so beautiful and they are meaningful. We love the variety of colors and the way every piece feels like tailor-made and feels for every moment and every trip to yoga-we could get lost in the vertebrae and patterns of some of these wonderful creations.
We chat with Ashley Wray of (link away) about creating and curating passion and how she stays super-cens while she runs her business.
What does creativity mean for you? What inspires you to be creative?
"Creativity has to do with curiosity and expression for me. I was a journalist before I founded Mala Collective, so I would say that I am naturally a really curious person. I went to school to learn questions! I have the feeling that creativity and curiosity are so closely interwoven."
Where do you live at the moment? What does your city offer you as a maker? Are there other places in the world that inspire you, why?
"During the Covid 19 pandemic I spent the year in Vancouver-where I come from. Looking back, it was a gift to be at home for a whole year. I am usually traveling between New York, La, Bali, India, Nepal and Vancouver. Something that I am in an incredible way. One -week wax meditation.
How did you get to this industry? What was your first job?
I founded Mala Collective by chance. It was a random meeting in a plane between Bali and Thailand. We fell in love with the Mala pearls in Bali and the woman she made she sat on our flight next to us. It was a real coincidence. Before Mala, I reported murder processes as a journalist. I prefer meditation a lot 🙂 With all of this I have many restrictive beliefs that I was not good enough to run a company because I had no background for it. It has cost years of work, mindfulness exercises and self -love to accept this trip and believe that I am enough.
Why is it important for consumers to continue looking for careful and integrative brands? What can you do to support you further?
"I think mindfulness is a attitude to life. It is so much more than just buying a jewelry, a pillow, a crystal, etc. Class = "Gmail Apple Converted-Space">
Why is a careful and sustainable production important?
"What I do, love, love, to develop, to help people start to start this work of mindfulness. It is a continuous journey. I think if we start with it, we will be more aware of what we buy, what we bring to our home, what we wear, how we spend our time and so on."
end these sentences: "always ..." and "never ..."
"Always ... love yourself. Never give your power away by thinking that you are not enough."
Favorite product (e) of yogamatt? Why?
favorite product - can I say Mala Collective?! I love the new upholstery you just launched on the market. The pressure is breathtaking!
What is your work uniform? What do you wear if you are not at work?
"We have been on the road for about 5 years now, so I am very usual to work from home and in cafés. I would say that most days I am in Birkenstocks (while I write this!). I love a simple dress - I have worked on my divine female in recent years, and I would feel more beautiful and overall. I'm more relaxed than a formal one. ”
What does energy give you and keep you charging?
"I love travel. The feeling of being in a new place and having awe gives me such a perspective. But I would say that my morning routine keeps me and charged.
favorite film, book, app, podcast, game at the moment?
"Favorite book: At the moment I really tend to make creativity to flow. I like to read a printed fiction. I am finished midnight library and read the immortal at the moment. Long walk and listen to an audio book that is either based on meditation or is geared towards the business. I love your teachings. "
