Can you tell us something about yourself?
Hello, I'm Phoebe. Aussie based in London. Holistic therapist, yoga and meditation teacher. I'm an adventurer at heart, an alcoholic and a Malbec connoisseur. I love doing business in the wellness space – my two babies are Silou London + The Self Care Space. People say I'm pretty cool, calm and collected, but I'm a very emotional being. The true Pisces in me is super sensitive and a big dreamer. I was fluent in Japanese and when I left university I wanted to become a Japanese-speaking spy working in international espionage! True story!
You left the corporate world and have since pursued your passion with several entrepreneurial ventures. What has been your biggest challenge and achievement to date?
After the Japanese spy gig didn't happen, I worked in digital marketing for 10 years, learning how to create and grow a brand. These skills have prepared me for the entrepreneurial world, but not without my fair share of challenges. My biggest success to date is founding my sustainable activewear brand Silou London and most recently The Self Care Space. The biggest challenge is that when you have a start-up company, you have to take on pretty much every role until you can hire some. Hello marketing, accounting, PR, production, human resources, legal – you name it. Every day is a challenge, but no day is the same.
Where do you find inspiration and motivation?
I have surrounded myself with some pretty amazing women who I am inspired by every day. My motivation comes from my passion for helping people on the path to healing - and when you're passionate, the motivation comes naturally. I'm also a Manifesting Generator in the field of Human Design, so I create a lot of my own energy and seem to have a lot of it!
Your journey is incredibly inspiring. What would you like to say to yourself 10 years ago, knowing what you know now?
If I could tell my 26 year old self – I would tell her to slow down, enjoy the quiet moments and not work so hard! Maybe take a year off and travel!
You wear many different hats in your business, do you have a favorite role?
I am an ideas woman. I love brainstorming sessions with the wildest dreams and then my team usually tells me they're too crazy. I also love the creative side of the business. The storytelling that makes things look pretty.
Her latest adventure is her online wellness hub, The Self Care Space. Tell us all about it?
During lockdown, I really noticed that people were craving more self-care but weren't really sure how to "fill their cup" every day. Self-care and mental well-being go hand in hand - that's how the Wellness Hub was born. Self Care Space is a monthly membership where members have unlimited access to an on-demand library of classes and rituals. At the library, you can choose from feel-good yoga flows, yin therapy classes, meditations, emotional healing exercises, sound healing, breathwork, and self-care rituals. This will also be followed by half and full day retreats at home. I also host a live event every month for my members in our members-only Facebook group. This can be a full moon ritual or a live meditation. For more information, seeThe self-care space.
