We recently met with the founders ofSuryalila Retreat Centerin Spain and spoke about their upcoming event, the 1000 Suns Online Summit, a three-day online transformational event spread over two different phases and featuring workshops, talks and live Q&As on wellbeing, self-empowerment and spirituality. We spoke to Vidya about what this year was like in Suryalila, where retreats and courses usually take place throughout the year, and how the summit came about.
We are really looking forward to the summit, tell us a little about the whole event?
1000 Suns Online Summit, a comprehensive three-day online community event where an inspiring collective of outstanding yoga teachers, experts and trailblazers share their knowledge and wisdom to help you build inner and outer resilience in a turbulent world.
The idea behind the 1000 SUNS Yoga and Resilience Summit is to provide you with the essential tools you need to overcome these challenging times. We want to help as many people as possible enter 2021 with the tools needed to create a life of joy and happiness for themselves with renewed spirit and strength.
Is there a special meaning behind the name and theme: 1000 SUNS Yoga and Resilience Summit?
It is based on a quote from the Bhagavad Gita. “If the radiance of a thousand suns were to arise at once from heaven, it would be like the splendor of the Mighty One.” The 1000 suns represent the self. Essentially, the Gita is about how to build inner resilience through equanimity towards life.
It's been a tough year for so many people. What inspired you to reach the summit?
We live and work in Suryalila, a beautiful yoga retreat in Andalusia, Spain. As you can imagine, we have had a very tough year. We wanted to find a way to recreate the atmosphere of our wonderful retreat center online. And of course we have to support the center through the crisis.
Other than classes and lectures, what can people expect from the Expo and the Meet & Greet area?
We will recreate the feeling of a real live event. You can meet other like-minded people if you want to network and chat. There will be live breakout Q&A rooms where you can meet the speakers and have live chats with them. In the exhibition center we have various stands from our sponsors that you can visit and they have some really good offers.
They have so many great classes and lectures over the 3 days. Do you have a personal favorite that you're excited about?
Yes, I'm looking forward to the Ana Forests workshop and I love James Swartz's talks on Vedanta. There's so much great material that I'm looking forward to actually seeing it all.
Who is the summit for and how do people get involved?
Anyone interested in building resilience and interested in yoga and building the immune system.
