New study discovered connection between color and sound
In the January edition of the naturopathy magazine, an exciting examination by Mr. Barrett was presented to the correlation of color and sound. In the article it is pointed out that the connection between the relative rooms that are taken by each color and the relative vibrations of the tones of the scale could be no more than a coincidence. However, the diameter of Newton’s rings are functions of the wavelengths and thus expression of a physical state.
Mr. Barrett used average values for his own method for the wavelengths of each color and received a number of numbers that deviate significantly from those of the musical scale. Ultimately, he was forced to summarize blue and indigo and to see their middle vibration rates as G. It is unclear to what extent Newton's measurements are correct, but Professor Zannotti from Naples indicates the cubic roots of the numbers for the diameter of the rings of red to red: 1, 8/9, 5/6, 3/4, 2/3, 3/5, 9/16, 1/2. The consecutive differences between these numbers are 9/8, 16/15, 10/9, 9/8, 10/9, 16/15, 9/3 - representing a large full -tone, a small full -tone, a small half tone, a large full tone, a small half tone and half a half tone.
Now the researchers put the hypothesis that there are different variants of the musical scale that depend on the permutation of the variable M (large full tone), M (small full tone) and x (small half tone). They show five different forms that the musical scale can take - expressed by the successive intervals - and illustrate that the above -mentioned sequence of intervals is one of these variants. These variants include the imperfect fifth, two such fifths EB and FC, GD, A2E2 and the imperfect fifth C2G - of course together with the corresponding excessive quarters.
This fascinating examination indicates that there could possibly have a deeper connection between color and sound that has so far remained undetected. The published study can be read here: (link removed).
It remains to be seen to what extent this findings can apply in the future and whether they will lead to the development of new naturopathic methods. It remains exciting which other connections between the different aspects of nature and our health can still be discovered.
