The herbal drugstore
This book is another really fantastic find in the world of herbal medicine! With 610 pages and 712 vegetable remedies, the serious herb connoisseur could not find a better independent resource for herbal medicine. The authors Linda B. White, MD, Steven Foster, employee of autumn forums and nine other authors - nine highly accredited doctors as well as medical and herbal specialists - have given the world a new kind of book on vegetable remedies. You will not only find a large selection of vegetable remedies, but next to them are also the most common medical remedies and advice for the same illness. In this way, the reader can compare what he may hear from the family doctor and the established doctors, and the less advertised information about natural alternatives. I have never seen so many and diverse information in a herbal book. Even my personal favorite herbalist, James A. Duke, Ph.D., author of The Green Pharmacy, reported on a rich and worthwhile resource for those who would like the safest and best treatments for their most urgent health problems.
The first section offers the herbalist all the basics that are necessary to start with the definitions of herbal medicine, as well as information that helps the reader to understand, select, use and buy the necessary vegetable remedies. In the following you will find another section, which at a glance contains an index of the medicinal products listed for every trapped disease. This section is basically a compressed version of the next section, which represents the main part of the book. It contains all known and selected medicines of the authors for 98 of the most common medical complaints that are sorted by illnesses to enable an easy reference. For each disease, the author contains a brief introduction and definition of the disease listed, a fairly detailed list of the species and names of the most frequently prescribed medicines, an orderly group of herbs and recommended vegetable remedies as well as some other helpful notes that are listed throughout. Finally, the authors take a closer look at what they describe as 58 of the most frequently used herbs. For each of the listed herbs, the reader also finds other well -known common names, regional sources, used parts, available shapes, uses and precautions.
Another great discovery for my herbal library, The herbal droger (Rodale, ISBN 1-57954-705-2) is indeed one of my new favorites and will undoubtedly be one of my most popular and most common resources! I can recommend it to every herbalist, regardless of caliber or experience. No other vegetable resource that I have so far has the amount of information that I can get from only this one book. The serious and hobby herb connoisseurs should all have a copy of it.
