I am often asked what a naturopath is or what naturopathy is. Naturopathy means being close to nature and/or benefiting from nature. As a naturopath, I believe that nature has given us everything we need to get healthy and stay healthy. The basic teachings of traditional naturopathy should sound familiar, “above all, do no harm.” Naturopaths generally specialize in wellness. This means teaching clients how using natural lifestyle approaches can promote the body's own natural healing and health potential. As a traditional health practitioner, I do not "diagnose" or "treat" disease, but rather recognize that most health problems arise from lifestyle effects and that the underlying cause of what we call "disease" (or "disease"). Ease ") is an improper diet, unhealthy habits and environmental factors that lead to biological imbalances, leading to a weakening of the body's natural defenses and subsequent collapse of health.
Naturopathy focuses on prevention; It advocates a wellness-oriented diet and lifestyle. Whole foods or herbal supplements that support the body can be used until the body is functioning properly again. Naturopathy is often effective for chronic illnesses such as arthritis or eczema because these conditions improve when diet, lifestyle and nutrient deficiencies are addressed. Many clients are able to reverse diseases such as high blood pressure and type II diabetes through diet and lifestyle changes. Additionally, naturopathy is a good choice for acute non-emergency illnesses such as colds and flus because it produces diet and lifestyle changes that support the body's immune system.
We are very concerned about digestion (including absorption), excretion, hydration, rest, and emotional well-being. 70% of my clients have digestive problems and about 80% don't get enough sleep or good sleep. Simply restoring the balance between digestion and sleep enables my clients to truly improve their health.
Traditionally, naturopathy was just a system to help people regain or maintain health by learning to eat healthy foods, exercise regularly, and use herbs and water therapies to restore health. Today's traditional health practitioners do just that. The traditional health practitioner does not diagnose or treat disease, but rather is a guide to information about safe and healthy ways to make lifestyle changes to achieve better health. A naturopath empowers you to take your life and your health into your own hands and regain the confidence to make decisions about your health and your life.
