Aromatherapy only became popular in the United States in the 1980s, when essential oils were added to various lotions, candles, or other scents.
There are also trained professionals such as aromatherapists, physical therapists, massage therapists, nutritionists or even naturopaths who use aromatherapy in their practice and are trained in specific essential oil applications.
