Top 5 Spots to Roller Blade in Tampa Florida
Roller blading is a great and fun way to exercise while enjoying Florida's magnificent tropical landscape. Bladeing puts less strain on your joints and allows you to go on longer trips than running allows. Having just returned home from living in cold New England, I decided to find the top 5 places to rollerblade in the area to get just the right mix of blades and fun scenery.
After extensive research, I came across 5 very different and unique trails:
1. Pinellas Trail – longest trail in Pinellas County
2. Fort Desoto – breathtaking views of the water, sunshine and even a manatee or two.
3. Skyway Trail
4. Old Gandy Bridge (Friendship Trail Bridge)
5. Upper Tampa Bay Trail
These top 5 rollerblading destinations are spacious, expansive and offer stunning scenery. If you're looking for a long or short commute, the Tampa Bay area has everything you need. The Pinellas Trail is the most popular trail here in the region. There are a variety of vendors and watering holes along the way to quench your thirst in the hot and humid weather.
During my research I also found a really great group that gathers around the bay every Sunday morning for various rollerblading excursions. The Sunday Bladers group is a high energy group that takes rollerblading seriously!
The choices are diverse; However, always remember to wear your safety gear when rollerblading. Also bring back a camel so you have a constant supply of H2O.
