collagen is the most important structural protein in the skin and other connective tissue and accounts for 25 to 35 percent of the total protein content of the body. Although usually intended as a product for skin fold or joint care, collagen- or more precisely verisol collage spepts (a material contained in many nutritional supplements) have proven to be effective in cellulite.
The clinical study
In a double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study1, researchers examined the effectiveness of verisol collage peptides in the treatment of cellulite in normal and overweight women. A total of 105 women aged 24-50 years with moderate cellulite received a daily dose of 2.5 g Verisol or a placebo over six months. The degree of cellulite was assessed before the start of treatment and after three and six months. In addition, skin blindness (i.e. a measure of the smoothness of the skin or its absence), the skin density and the length of the subcutaneous border line were evaluated. Treatment with Verisol led to a statistically significant decrease in cellulite degrees and reduced skin blinds on the thighs (p <0.05) in normal-weighted women. In addition, the skin density was significantly improved compared to placebo (p <0.05). After taking Verisol, the subcutaneous border line showed a significant shortening compared to the start of the course, which indicates an improvement in the cellulite. The effectiveness of treatment with verisol was also confirmed in overweight women, although the effects compared to women with a normal body weight were less pronounced.
conclusions
The results of the study showed that regular use of Verisol over a period of six months led to a significant improvement in the complexion in women with moderate cellulite. Based on the current data, it can be concluded that long -term supplementation with Verisol leads to an improvement in the cellulite and has a positive effect on skin health.
