The Dangers of a Gallstone or Liver Flush for People With GERD (Acid Reflux)
According to naturopathic medicine, a gallstone or liver flush helps people in many ways to relieve a number of their problems, including back, shoulder and leg pain and even some digestive disorders, due to the nature of its cleansing effect - flushing out toxins and all the accumulated and unhealthy fat stored in your gallbladder.
Traditional medicine experts may disagree, but the results don't lie.
It works out.
Unless you have GERD or acid reflux.
Technically, GERD is a digestive disorder and I don't want to go into its definition here as you may already know what it is, especially if you have been dealing with it for a long time and have already searched the Internet for in-depth information about acid reflux. The point of this article is to emphasize that you can perform a gallstone or liver flush related to two things:
You do NOT have GERD (Acid Reflux) or…
You are CURED from your GERD (Acid Reflux) and are confident your stomach can handle it.
The common “ingredients” involved in a gallstone or liver flush are olive oil, lemon or grapefruit, and Epsom salt. For a normal person, these can be bearable. But if you suffer from acid reflux, it contributes to the problem for the following reasons:
1. Olive oil is fatty.Taking half a cup of it (which is usually the recommendation for a successful flush) would put strain on your liver and could cause an excess of bile to be secreted to digest the oil. However, there is a greater chance that you will also develop bile reflux. Not a good thing based on my experience from my endoscopy test.
2. Lemon or grapefruitshould be mixed with olive oil before taking. Although lemon and grape are alkaline-rich foods, they tend to increase stomach acidity in some people. I still have to figure out why this happens. One type of fruit may not have the same compatibility with different people. Personally, I stick to apples, bananas and watermelon as recommended by my nutritionist.
3. Epsom salt, if taken without the necessary precautions, can be more harmful than helpful. This can also lead to further acid problems if you are not careful. The funny thing about what you just read is that both my primary care doctor and my naturopathic doctor agreed on this. Finally a point where both can meet! Seriously, this is something you should consider if you want to cure your GERD or acid reflux naturally.
