Unfortunately, as I rushed out the door for a flight to Central Oregon to visit my parents, sister, and niece, I left my bottle of Triple Flu Defense behind. In fact, the day after I arrived, my throat hurt and my nose started running. I immediately started gargling with salt water and rinsing my nose. Luckily I had HMC, EHB and Astra Isatis (three of my favorite cold remedies) on hand, which I swallowed 2-3 of each every 3-4 hours.
Although I wasn't planning on flying all the way to Oregon to recover from a virus, it turned out to be a perfect opportunity to test out natural therapies for colds and flu. I want to share my experience with you so you can be ready!
A quick recovery is possible!
At first I felt exhausted and very constipated. Then the stomach flu started. I spent the entire day in bed with a headache, without an ounce of mental or physical energy. The very next day I got up, blew my nose a few times, and that was it! I was my usual self again! Although it's obviously preferable to avoid the flu (I'll tell you more about that below), which is usually a lengthy process (even for me), it was over in a flash.
Natural Ways to Help Your Body Defeat Viruses!
In addition to the supplements mentioned above, I had the opportunity to try several immune-boosting therapies, including therapeutic touch (I had an amazing massage at the nearby spa), rest and relaxation (I had already planned to relax), and hot/cold therapy (lots of hot showers, hot tub, magic socks, and sitting by a hot fire). I don't happen to have any music on, but that would have been a great addition based on the research, as well as a positive outlook on life.
Eat to prevent the flu!
I believe avoiding gluten and dairy has made a significant difference. Because my body hadn't been exposed to these inflammatory foods in a long time, I found it much easier to recover from the inflammation caused by the virus. Sugar is also minimal in my diet, which allowed my immune system to immediately jump on the virus.
Avoid the flu!
The best way to prepare for an inevitable exposure is to avoid food allergens, eat according to your blood type, get 8 hours of rest each night, and exercise regularly. The best product is Triple Flu Defense (TFD), a liquid homeopathic remedy developed by my colleague Dr. Nenninger was developed. Take 20 drops once a week during flu season. If you have been exposed (or if you get on a plane), take TFD three times daily.
I share this story in the hopes that you can avoid the cold/flu viruses (make sure you have TFD handy), and if you notice symptoms starting, jump right in and support your system. It is possible to recover from the flu, especially if you take good care of yourself every day.
