Treatment of heartburn, gastritis, reflux and Gerd with holistic medicine and PEMF therapy
Because Gerd is so complex, you have to understand the mechanisms on which the problem is based. Gerd is due to a hiatal hernia. If there is a hiatus hernia, there are different degrees of the return flow from gastric acid to the esophagus. The main symptom of Gerd is heartburn. Another common problem in connection with Gerd is "water swell" or a feeling of acidity in the throat. It is not unusual that people with a bad reflux, as Gerd is, have vocal cord irritation, cough and chronic sore throat, especially in the morning - and even asthma.
hiatushernie is simply caused by overstretching the stomach, which unfortunately also leads to the lower end of the esophagus overstretching. When the esophagus is overstretched, acid freely gets into the esophagus that is not designed for handling acidity.
heartburn is often also caused by gastritis or stomach inflammation. These two conditions may be difficult to distinguish and can only be reached by endoscopy or by inserting a rifle scope in the neck into the lower esophagus and the stomach. Gastritis is treated as a completely different disease, although both tend to be treated with medication with medication such as Zantac, Prilosec, the purple pill [protonix], etc.
The state that is most worrying at Gerd is esophagitis, which is referred to as reflux esophagitis. In the worst case, it becomes known as barrett esophagus. Barrett esophagus can lead to esophageal cancer due to the chronic irritation of the acid at the lower end of the esophagus.
So there are two approaches for dealing with Gerd.
The first is to reduce the return flow of acid into the esophagus. This is again with the acid -uppression medication. In a holistic world, the main strategy is to shorten the time in which the food sits in the stomach and try to cure the esophagus. The medication to suppress the acid backflow into the esophagus simply reduce acid production. They do nothing to heal the esophagus or stomach. In this case, the doctors rely strictly on the healing of the body. Holistic doctors use an additional strategy in which an addition called DGL or Aloe is used to cure the lining of the esophagus and stomach.
The second important strategy is to shorten the time that needs the food to get out of the stomach. Unfortunately we are in a catch-22 with the acid blockers. Due to the suppression of the stomach acid, we are unable to digest our food, and consequently tends to sit in the stomach longer. Although this does not seem to be intuitive, we usually recommend people with Gerd to actually use acid during meals. Many people actually develop a reflux, simply because they don't already have enough acid in their stomach to properly digest their food. This means that the food sits there too long and therefore flows back into the esophagus. For this purpose, people can use apple cider vinegar, 1 to 2 tablespoons of water at the end of each meal or actually an acid preparation such as beta -hydrochloride in the right dose.
Digestion actually begins in the mouth. People have to do right until their food is liquid before leaving their mouths. This preliminary digestion reduces the workload of the stomach and leaves the stomach faster due to food, which reduces the return flow. I am firmly convinced that a large part of our reflux problems in our society is that people do not chew enough because we end up eating very quickly. In addition, people with reflux - especially with morning symptoms - have to raise the head of the bed or receive a foam wedge with an increase in 6 inches. The foam wedge must cover the body from the head to the coccyx. Fortunately, this can be done on one side of the bed, so that no partner is affected. It is important to lift with a wedge [Additional Pillows Just Don’t Work] to reduce the possibility of an acid backflow into the esophagus. In addition, meals should not be taken within two hours before going to bed, since the food is probably still in the stomach and then flows back into the esophagus. Small meals during the day also reduce the amount of food in the stomach at all times. The stomach is like a small balloon the size of a fist, and if it is pressed down by bending and lifting or other loads of the abdominal muscles through the muscles, the balloon is pressed and the food has only one way up the esophagus.
In terms of the value of Pemfs in the case of heartburn or Gerd, it is possible that Pemfs help with the motility of the stomach to evacuate food faster. This helps to reduce the amount of return flow. In addition, Pemfs can increase the amount of acid production during a meal to support the digestion of food better and faster. After all, Pemfs can help reduce the symptoms of heartburn and gastritis. I used magnetic fields many times when I spoiled myself too much with sharp dishes. They help the pain of heartburn quite dramatic. However, this use of PEMFs is only a patch as long as the other components are not used to reduce the backflow. The use of PEMFs when setting Gerd must therefore include mechanical measures, nutritional measures and adequate digestive practices. Pemfs can be very helpful to relieve the symptoms, and can also accelerate the stomach motivation, which means that the time, the food in the stomach, is reduced and thus reduces the likelihood of a reflux.
If you have a PEMF system, it can of course also be used for other health needs. If you already have a PEMF system for other reasons, it can also be used for your reflux by creating the magnetic field directly via the upper abdomen and the lower esophagus. This can be done especially before going to bed if heartburn can be felt - until the symptoms are relieved and in the morning when the symptoms can be the worst. In this case too, the Pemfs together with any other therapy used would be symptomatic.
