Are you struggling with recurring acne breakouts and looking for natural ways to deal with them? Then you have come to the right place. Acne can be unpredictable and annoying, yet it is one of the most common skin diseases among teenagers worldwide. Acne is caused by the sebaceous glands producing too much oil, which clogs the hair follicles. Fortunately, there are numerous natural remedies in Ayurveda that can help fight acne.
Dr. Chaitali Deshmukh, Ayurveda Consultant, M.D. in Ayurveda, explains the causes of acne and reveals some simple Ayurvedic home remedies for treating the skin disease.
Causes of Acne, According to Ayurveda
Acne is known as “Yauvan Pidika” in Ayurveda and is considered a symptom of an inflamed Pitta dosha. Acne can occur not only on the face, but also on the shoulders and back. Vata, Pitta and Kapha are the three basic doshas according to Ayurveda, and good health is considered an ideal state of balance between these three doshas. Acne is believed to be the result of Pitta dosha working beneath the skin, causing heated toxins to manifest as acne. To prevent acne, one should follow a Pitta-balancing diet. Avoid spicy and fermented foods if you suffer from recurring acne breakouts. It is advisable to stay away from very acidic and heavily fried dishes.
Ayurvedic home remedies for acne
According to Dr. Deshmukh, there are some Ayurvedic home remedies for acne that can help treat acne better.
Amla juice
Drink amla juice daily. The most sought-after ingredient in Ayurvedic skin care is Amla or Indian gooseberry. According to some sources, fresh amla juice contains 20 times more vitamin C than orange juice. Since vitamin C is a natural antioxidant, it protects you from the harmful effects of free radicals and prevents the development of acne.
Herbal mixture
Coriander seeds, fennel, basil, turmeric and amla should be ground in equal proportions. The antioxidants found in all of these seeds and herbs fight inflammation under the skin. Take half a teaspoon of this powder 15 minutes before lunch and dinner and drink it down with hot water.
Ayurvedic mixture of Kutki, Guduchi and Shatavari (Indian wild asparagus)
Our Ayurvedic doctor claims that a herbal combination of Kutki, Guduchi and Shatavari can work wonders. Take 1/4 teaspoon of the mixture two to three times daily. Mix the three herbs in equal parts. After meals, place the powder on your tongue and wash it down with cold water.
melon
Using melon on the skin can also be helpful. To do this, you just have to apply some melon to the skin before going to bed and leave it on throughout the night. Thanks to its cooling anti-pitta properties, acne will heal.
Cumin, coriander and fennel tea
Drinking cumin, coriander, and fennel tea can help the body stay cool and keep away heat-producing pollutants. Take a third of a teaspoon of these three seeds steeped in hot water. For optimal effect, you should drink this tea three times a day.
